Mightmare STARTED OUT AS the solo project of River Shook, A songwriter, performer, and guitarist, most known for fronting country rock
band Sarah Shook & the Disarmers.
River's debut Mightmare album Cruel Liars was written, engineered, produced, and performed almost entirely by river alone during lockdown in 2020 and showcases their versatility as an artist, writer, and singer.  Cruel liars leans hard into early influences such as Elliott smith, Interpol, belle & Sebastian, and blonde redhead.

river signed to kill rock stars, assembled a monster band, and a two-week headlining tour ensued in October 2022 following the album release.  songs from cruel liars received accolades from rolling stone, New York Times, Brooklyn vegan, no depression, etc, and in February 2023 rivER AND THE band reconvened in nashville, tn, to record two new singles.  Look for
